STONEGARD Calls It Quits
October 16, 2008Norwegian metallers STONEGARD have released the following statement:
"Due to internal conflicts and disagreements, STONEGARD has decided to cease as a band. In the best rock 'n'roll tradition we could not find a way to continue our work together, and therefore chose to put an end to things right away. STONEGARD will not join ENSLAVED for the announced European tour in November/December, and we are truly sorry to disappoint everyone that was looking forward to seeing the band live this fall. Mostly it has been an incredible joyride, and we hope you all appreciated what we added to the scene. We will most definitely be back in different shapes and constellations so keep your eyes and more importantly ears open. A special thanks to all our fans that has been with us throughout the years — you made this experience very special for us."
A remixed version of STONEGARD's second album, "From Dusk Till Doom", was made available on September 1 via Indie Recordings.
STONEGARD spent their first years in Scandinavia touring heavily and opening for acts like BLACK SABBATH, KORN, SLIPKNOT, MOTÖRHEAD and SYSTEM OF A DOWN.
The group's 2005 debut, "Arrows", became a success with sales of more than 7,000 in Scandinavia alone.
For the European release of "From Dusk Till Doom", STONEGARD upgraded the album with a new mix, re-recorded guitars and bass and brought in no other than Ted Jensen (SLIPKNOT, MACHINE HEAD) for the mastering.
The CD was produced and recorded by Daniel Bergstrand (IN FLAMES, MESHUGGAH),and was mixed by Stamos Koliousis and Vangelis Labrakis (MENCEA, SUPERPSYCHICS). The album also includes a bonus CD containing previously unreleased material (demo tapes, videoclips etc.)
